Other activities
Over the course of 2013 CESR took a leading role in a variety of other forums and events organized to carry forward the promise and principles of the Vienna Declaration and Program of Action.
The Vienna+20 Action Week
CESR was one of the organizers of the ‘Vienna+20 Action Week’ which was staged in the Austrian capital from 24-28 June 2013. More than 140 human rights defenders from all over world gathered in the city for the event, which culminated in the adoption of a Vienna+20 CSO Declaration. At the conference, CESR’s Senior Researcher Niko Lusiani convened the discussions on Austerity, Macroeconomic Policies and Financial Regulation and on Human Rights in the Post-2015 Sustainable Development Agenda, helping to shape a set of recommendations to states for inclusion in the Declaration. The Declaration was presented to government delegates and others attending the official Vienna+20 conference organized later that week by the Austrian government together with the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights.
